New generation of the nightjet night train

The first nightjet night trains of the new generation have been running since December 2023. Including on this train connection from Munich to Hamburg.

They consist of two seating carriages, three couchette carriages and two sleeping carriages and offer significantly more comfort and, above all, more privacy, including the favourable "mini cabins" (private sleeping pods like in a Japanese hotel).

The ÖBB video gives a first impression. I will add photos as soon as I have travelled in the new Nightjet myself 🙂

A big compliment to ÖBB for taking travelling by night train to a new, innovative level of comfort.

Comfort seating trolley & multifunctional area
Double bucket seats with folding armrest and full-length headrest
Storage options, reading lamps and inductive charging at the seats
Multifunctional area with low-floor access
Bicycle parking spaces
Space for luggage, pushchairs, skis & snowboards
Luggage security with NFC function on the luggage racks - which I think is really brilliant! This used to always be a problem: storing luggage overnight while you sleep.

Compartment barrier-free comfort
Barrier-free compartment for up to 2 wheelchair users and 2 accompanying persons
Modern barrier-free WC next door
Cars with low-floor access

Couchette coach comfort
Modern 4-seater compartments for families and groups
Fixed beds
More space and privacy

Mini Cabin
Innovative sleeping pods for maximum privacy. I find these really innovative. Inexpensive and private. Ingenious!
Lockers for shoes and hand luggage
Movable folding table for breakfast
Reading lamp, storage space, coat hooks, mirror

Sleeping car comfort
Compartment with own sanitary facilities (WC and shower facilities)
2 fixed beds one above the other (can be booked as a compartment for 1 or 2 persons)
