Night trains from Tampere

Tampere is an important night train stop in Finland. From here, there are direct night train connections to destinations including Helsinki, Rovaniemi, Kemijärvi, Kolari and Kemi. This makes Tampere especially suitable for journeys between southern Finland and Lapland, as well as for night train connections to northern Finland.

Tampere is particularly practical because of its position in the Finnish rail network. Many night trains from Helsinki stop here on their way towards Oulu, Kemi, Rovaniemi, Kemijärvi or Kolari. For travellers from Tampere and the surrounding region, the city is therefore a useful starting point for Finnish night trains without first having to travel to Helsinki.

The most important station is Tampereen rautatieasema. It is centrally located in the city and well connected to Finnish long-distance and regional rail services. Even so, before travelling you should always check which connection is specifically shown and whether your night train departs directly from Tampere or whether boarding at another Finnish stop would be more convenient.
