Night trains from Hanover

Hanover is an important night train stop in northern Germany. From here, there are direct connections to destinations including Zurich, Vienna, Innsbruck, Amsterdam and Berlin. This makes Hanover especially suitable for journeys towards Switzerland, Austria and the Netherlands, as well as for night train connections within Germany.

Hanover is particularly practical because of its position on important north-south and east-west routes in the German rail network. Many international night trains stop here on their way between northern Germany, southern Germany and neighbouring countries. For travellers from Lower Saxony and nearby regions, Hanover is therefore a useful entry point into the European night train network without first having to travel to Hamburg or Berlin.

The most important station is Hannover Hauptbahnhof. It is centrally located in the city and very well connected to German long-distance and regional rail services. Even so, before travelling you should always check which station is specifically shown and whether your connection departs directly from Hanover or whether boarding in Hamburg, Berlin or at another stop would be more convenient.
